Barton Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. The Higher Learning Commission is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Barton is also accredited under the provisions of the Kansas Community Junior College Act of 1965 and is a member of the American Association of Community Colleges as well as the Council of North Central Junior Colleges.
